Questions we hear frequently

Planning a BC elopement, micro wedding, or intimate wedding at Tin Poppy Retreat? We’ve answered the questions couples ask most often about our all-inclusive wedding packages, accommodations, pricing, alcohol permits, guest capacity, pets, and planning your wedding in the beautiful Shuswap region of British Columbia.

Do you offer DIY venue rentals?2026-06-26T20:02:31+00:00

No.

We specialize in thoughtfully curated all-inclusive weddings, micro weddings, and elopements.

By focusing on complete wedding experiences rather than venue-only rentals, we’re able to provide a consistently beautiful and stress-free celebration for every couple.

Do you offer BC elopement packages?2026-06-26T20:01:28+00:00

Yes.

We specialize in romantic BC elopements for couples looking for a relaxed, meaningful wedding experience surrounded by nature.

Our all-inclusive elopement packages allow you to focus on each other while we take care of the details.

How far in advance should we book?2026-06-26T20:00:40+00:00

Our most popular dates between May and October often book 12 to 18 months in advance.

We recommend reserving your preferred date as early as possible.

Can guests bring trailers or camper vans?2026-06-26T19:59:36+00:00

Yes.

Guests may bring trailers, camper vans, or camping gear for extra privacy and space provided your total guest count remains within your package limits.

Because Tin Poppy Retreat operates primarily on solar power, we do not offer RV hookups or serviced campsites. All trailers and camper vans must be fully self-contained.

What time does the music have to end?2026-06-26T19:58:21+00:00

Music at Emerald Hall concludes at 11:00 p.m.

After 11:00 p.m., you’re welcome to continue celebrating at Lavender Cabin. We simply ask everyone to respect the peaceful atmosphere of the retreat and our neighbours.

Is there a speaker available for music?2026-06-26T19:56:58+00:00

Yes.

Emerald Hall and Lavender Cabin both include Bluetooth speakers, making it easy to connect your own playlists throughout your celebration.

What will our flowers and décor look like?2026-06-26T19:56:06+00:00

Every wedding is inspired by the season.

We prioritize locally grown flowers from nearby flower farms whenever possible, along with natural greenery gathered from the retreat.

You’re welcome to share your colour palette and inspiration, and we’ll create a romantic nature-inspired design that reflects your vision while celebrating what’s naturally in bloom.

Can our dog be part of our wedding?2026-06-26T19:55:20+00:00

Absolutely.

We’re a pet-friendly wedding venue, and well-behaved dogs are welcome to be included in your ceremony, wedding photos, and celebration.

What happens if it rains?2026-06-26T19:54:37+00:00

Tin Poppy Retreat is an outdoor wedding venue, rain or shine. For Emerald Hall weddings, if there’s heavy rain, your ceremony can be moved indoors to Emerald Hall. If the rain is expected to pass, we’re happy to wait it out, or many couples simply embrace the moment with umbrellas. We’ll work with you to choose the best option for your day.

Rain simply becomes part of the adventure.

Will we have the venue to ourselves?2026-06-26T19:49:12+00:00

Couples booking our Emerald Hall Wedding or Tin Poppy Micro Wedding enjoy exclusive use of Tin Poppy Retreat for the duration of their celebration.

For elopements, another couple may occasionally be celebrating elsewhere on our 160-acre property. Ceremony locations are thoughtfully separated to ensure complete privacy.

Do we need wedding insurance?2026-06-26T19:48:01+00:00

No.

Tin Poppy Retreat carries the venue insurance required for weddings held on the property.

Outside vendors are responsible for carrying their own liability insurance.

Do we need a Special Event Permit?2026-06-26T19:47:14+00:00

If alcohol will be served during an Emerald Hall Wedding or Tin Poppy Micro Wedding, you’ll need to obtain a BC Special Event Permit.

Special Event Permits are not required for our intimate elopement packages.

Is catering included?2026-06-26T19:46:23+00:00

Our Emerald Hall Wedding Package includes catering.

Our Tin Poppy Micro Wedding package allows you to hire your favourite caterer, choose from our recommended caterers, or prepare your own meal.

Can we bring our own photographer or wedding vendors?2026-06-26T19:45:33+00:00

Yes.

You’re welcome to bring your own photographer, florist, hair stylist, musician, or other vendors.

For everyone’s protection, all outside vendors must carry commercial liability insurance while working at Tin Poppy Retreat.

Can we visit Tin Poppy Retreat before booking?2026-06-26T19:43:58+00:00

Absolutely.

We encourage couples to schedule a tour so you can explore the ceremony spaces, boutique cabins, Emerald Hall, and the beautiful forest setting before making your decision.

A non-refundable deposit secures your wedding date.
